Procedure and device for thermal treatment of waste materials - comprises reactor combustion zone charged with waste, coke and lime, and gas produced passes through hot coke be also located in reactor
Waste material can be thermally treated in a reaction vessel. The reactor is loaded with the waste material (21), coke (22) and excess of a Ca- contg. material (24) such as lime or CaCO3. This mixt. is placed in a combustion and melting zone (V) which is separate from a coke bed (K) also located in the reactor, and is melted there. The gas (G) produced is passed through the coke bed at a high temperature in order to convert its CO2 content into CO. The melting zone is located above the coke bed, and the gas is passed through the coke bed and leaves the reactor at one side or at the top (16). Alternatively, the melting zone may surround the coke bed, the gas passing upwards, and the melted material downwards, through the coke bed. The melted material is collected at the floor of the reactor. Waste material, coke and Ca-rich material maybe loaded into the reactor in layers. An oxidn. substance (8) such as air or oxygen, and a fossil fuel (9), may be introduced into the melting zone and the coke bed from one side or from above. USE/ADVANTAGE - For thermal treatment of waste material such as household waste, industrial waste, filter dust, sewage sludge, packing material etc. The waste material is disposed of in a manner which is neutral to the environment, and in particular organic components are reliably destroyed and the products of the procedure can either be re-used or can be disposed of without problems.
