Heating non-conducting bulk material in fluidised bed furnaces - using heating element making direct contact with bulk material and operated by DC of max. 50 volts
Heating non-conducting bulk material in fluidised bed furnaces - using heating element making direct contact with bulk material and operated by DC of max. 50 volts
A voltage of up to 30V is initially applied to a heating element of e.g. V4A fine steel designed in the form of a coil (2) or a double coil (6) in the fluidised bed reactor (1). The bulk material is heated up for starting an exothermal reaction. Bulk materials contg. silicon are heated up and converted by reaction with hydrogen halide gas to silicon halides. The material for the coil(s) consists of round cross sectional steel with a dia. of 10-50 mm. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cheaper materials can be used for furnace walls. Allows controlled acceleration of reaction. Heating elements can also be made of cheaper material and in different shapes; meander, coil, rod or cylindrical.
