A pour-on formulation for dogs and cats has a content of 1-20 wt.% of levamisole or tetramisole and 70-99 wt.% of N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) together with opt. excipients and other active agents. In the formulation, the amt. of levamisole is pref: 5-20, esp. 10-20 wt.%, and the NMP pref. 70-95, more pref. 80-95, esp. 80-91 wt.%. Application is 0.01-0.5, pref.0.1-0.3 ml/kg body wt. of the formulation. USE/ADVANTAGE - The formulation is for prophylaxis and treatment against endoparasites (cestodes and nematodes). It is non-toxic, not harmful to the skin of adults or children, and the odour is not unpleasant. The active agent has good solubility, to provide effective amts. The prepn. adheres to the fur of the animal without irritation, does not feel damp, and skin penetration is enhanced. These advantages are not all fulfilled by prior art formulations.
