In order to produce the impression of a three-dimensional image, two images taken at the interpupillary distance are decomposed into vertical strips of pixel width and simultaneously projected onto a projection surface, which consists of vertical prismatic strips, in such a way that the different images through the different optical path produced by the prisms arrive only at the corresponding eye of the viewer. This method is colour-capable and requires no aids, such as special spectacles.
