A device for enriching a liquid with carbon dioxide consists of a pressure vessel with liquid and gas inlets in which a cushion of gas is formed above the liquid, and which contains a mechanical flow inducing element. Under this invention, the flow inducing element is a piezoelectric vibrator (43) which is located in a holder and is in contact with the liquid on one or both sides. The vibrator is located in the liquid near the gas cushio (88) and/or its central axis coincides with the longitudinal axis (38) of the vessel (1). The vibrator is located and operated so that at least a part of the liquid stream is directed into the gas cushion. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in enriching a liquid with carbon dioxide for example in the treatment of drinking water or in drink dispensing machines. A simple, silent and low-maintenance device which is inexpensive to produce provides a uniform enrichment with carbon dioxide at a high flow rate of liquid.
