The military battle tank is moving along a path (S) that is at an angle (phi) to the line of firing of a stationary weapons system (W). The weapons system has 3 infra red detectors (D1,D2,D3) set at different angles and the tank is detected in turn by all three. As the tanks interrupts the sensor beams the time intervals are measured. In the last position the distance is determined by a laser range finder. Based upon the sensor time values and range, the firing point for the weapons system is calculated to achieve a hit at the intersection point (T). ADVANTAGE - Accurate determination of firing point.
