An electrochemical gas sensor for detecting gaseous pollutants in a gas mixt., includes a chamber contg. an acidic electrolyte, at least two double layered measurement electrodes, a catalyst layer and a porous PTFE backing layer. The gases to be detected are picked up by applying a voltage of 1120-1300 MV between the two double layered measurement electrodes. The catalyst layer contains 7-16% of a PTFE binding agent, and the sinter temp. is adjusted to 480-640 K, while the pressure is set to 6-15 N/cm2. USE/ADVANTAGE - The sensor is used for detecting pollutants from road traffic. Its sensitivity can be adjusted according to the gas being monitored. (5pp Dwg.No.1/1)
