A control system for an electro-mechanical converter eg loudspeaker (7) uses a system model (3) that is subjected to a optimisation process. The output of the model is fed back via a regulator (5) for composition with the input (1) and the generated signal (2) is used to correct the model. The output of the model based loop is used to provide a drive signal for the loudspeaker amplifier (6). ADVANTAGE -Improves performance of passive electro mechanical device.
