Removal of pollutants from substrates e.g. soil - by cultivating on the substrate, plants which are capable of taking=up and storing the pollutants, esp. heavy metals, then sepg. the pollutants from the harvested plants
The removal of pollutants, esp. heavy metals, from substrates, esp. soils, comprises cultivating on the substrate, plants which are capable of taking up the pollutants and storing them in the plant body. The plants are then harvested and treated so that the pollutants are removed and the harmless biomass then used for other purposes. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process avoids the high costs and technical outlay of previous processes (using e.g soil washers, classification equipment, dump leaching devices and needing earth moving equipment or water tight boundaries of the treatment area). Useful organic substances and energy are produced simultaneously with removal of the pollutants when the invention is used. The process is environmentally friendly and chea
