Removal comprises heating the anhydrous crude fatty acid ester with Na2CO3.10H2O or any other hydrate of Na2CO3 obtd. by removing water from the decahydrate or anhydrous Na2CO3 and the amt. of water necessary to form the decahydrate. USE/ADVANTAGE - The fatty acids used for a wide variety of industrial purposes must contain the smallest possible amt. of free fatty acids. The process is able to remove the fatty acids simply and almost quantitatively under mild conditions without any undesired emulsion formation when the resulting fatty acid soaps are removed and without any undesired side reactions resulting from the use of too high temps. At low temps. removal of the fatty acids is almost quantitative
