摘要
In a typical robotic application a motor (9) drives two-side-by-side mounted grinding wheels (1, 4) through a right-angle drive 910). The axes of movement of the robot are a horizontal traverse X, a cross-feed Y and a downfeed Z. The outer wheel (1) is a laminar or flap type for removing rust or scale, and the slightly samller inner wheel is of a conventional type for finishing. A first pass is taken down the work with the flap wheel to remove rust and scale. The unit is then fed across in the Y direction so that a second neighbouring strip can be ground with the flap wheel. Int he next pass the second strip is rough ground while at the same time the inner grinding wheel finishes the frist strip. The process is continued step by step to cover the whole surface. ADVANTAGE - Reduces need for manual intervention and wheel changes. Greater productivity.
