Testing effectiveness of dishwashing machines - by attaching contaminated test body to crockery item then comparing dishwashing procedure with similar test body which has not been washed

Testing the effectiveness of dish-washing machines involves using a test body contaminated with test germs under standard conditions which is compared with a corresp. test body which has not undergone the dish-washing process. Test body is attached to an item of crockery so that it is exposed to the washing liq. from all sides, and undergoes the washing process along with the crockery item. After the washing process the test body and the comparison body are placed in a phosphate buffer solution for transmitting to the test laboratory. USE/ADVANTAGE - For testing washing machines, esp. commercial washing machines, by measuring the redn. in germs on a contaminated test body. Expensive skilled test personnel are not necessary, and the test can be carried out at the location of the washing machine by unskilled personnel. Accuracy and standardisation of the testing is also significantly improved.
