Electrical units (3) with their connectors (4) are fitted into a receptacle (1) associated with a carrier (2) which surrounds a system of retainers (8) having mating connectors (5) in a common plane with considerable room for movement. Openings (6) in the floor (1a) of the receptacle (1) around these connectors (5) are tapered (7) to match the slopes of their edges (13) and guide them into the correspondingly angled surrounds (17) of the unit connectors (4), which are tongued (16) for ease of introduction into grooves (15). ADVANTAGE - Initial and final alignments of electrical units and their connectors are achieved with min. build-up of tolerances.
