The high resolution, two-dimensional radar pictures of technical objects are generated by tightly bundled radar beams and computer assisted data processing. During measurement the object is rotated about its vertical axis. A measurement plane with n.m. fields is defined over the largest object width, for which a data memory with n.m.p. addresses is contained in the computer. The beam stays directed on a definite field for at least one full rotation of the object, for which data values are written into the three-dimensional memory. The beam illuminates each field in turn and the measuring data in the memory is shifted around so that any angle of the object is illuminated by beams perpendicular to the plane of view instead of being illuminated by a point source. USE/ADVANTAGE - For military applications etc., with increased precision, simple handling, and fully automatic operation.
