Adhesive tape is removed from its backing strip by means of a device consisting of two side plates (5, 7) which support two rollers mounted side by side on a common hollow shaft. The roll of tape is mounted on one roller in order to unwind the tape. The backing strip (1) is separated from the adhesive tape (14) and passed around a guide roller (6) before being wound on to the second roller which is driven from the first roller by a friction disc fitted between the two rollers.
