The electronic circuit is used for carrying out a division operation on two multidigit digitally coded numbers. A control circuit (60) is used to control the position of the decimal point and consists of a special circuit (80), flip flops (61-63), AND gates (64-69, 76-77), OR gates (70,72,75) and shift registers (3,4,7,15). The special circuit is based upon flip-flops interconnected to create a pair of shift register units. The main circuit has one of the shift registers (7) providing the decimal point position control.
