Two AM/CW laser rangefinders (2,3) scan a circular track with beams at different angles to the axial direction. A two wavelength passive infrared radiometer (9) is directed at their point of impact, and connected to combinatorial logic (21) which detects a significant target. The range signals (12,13) are processed for absolute altitude (15) and discontinuity profile (14), centroid location (16) and time difference (17). A delay calculator (19) relates the firing signal (23) to rotational speed and range. ADVANTAGE - With parachute-braked warhead-scanning a spiral target track, point of impact is nearly independent of target distance.
