The clamping mechanism consists of a cutter body (1) with several recesses to accommodate inserts (4). These inserts are clamped in place by means of an elastically deformable part (3) which forces the insert against recess faces NG and NR when either a set screw (2) or a dowel (5) is forced against the deformable part (3). The elastically deformable part (3) may be hollow and preferentially elliptical in section. ADVANTAGE - Quick and accurate exchange of cuttting tips, high clamping force, compact and easy construction of all parts.
