The biofilter assembly, for air cleaning to remove micro organisms, is in a modular construction with at least one inflow and distribution module and a filter module, arranged over each other, to form the zone for the raw air inflow zone and the filter layer with the holding zone for the micro organisms. All the modules have the same regular polygon cross section. The flat walls are surrounded by frames of vertical slats and horizontal beams, assembled to give the wall openings which are filled by wall plates. The lowest of the modules has a closure plate to seal the filter unit.
