Rectangular core machining from material having irregular edges - involves derivation of coordinates of useful surface by simple subtraction of opposite corrected functional measurement data
Rectangular core machining from material having irregular edges - involves derivation of coordinates of useful surface by simple subtraction of opposite corrected functional measurement data
Measurements made on upper and lower edges of a branch (1) at regular spacings are expressed as functions (2,3) whose slopes between successive measurement points are evaluated. Two points (10,11) corresp. to local minima are joined by a straight line (12) and the measurements corrected as a starting-point for further computations. The starts and finishes of straights bounding unusable edges are memorised, and the max. usable surface is deduced by subtraction. USE/ADVANTAGE - In sawmills for prodn. of optimal plank widths, slope for best cut is computed and guidance data are obtd. very easily.
