The link chain coupled steps have upper and lower rollers, guided along a rail. The steps consist of a horizontal tread and a vertical face, interconnected by a profiled strut (4) at the sides so that the sides form triangles. The profiled struts have cut-outs (5), near the horizontal face, in which a shaft with rollers can be mounted, and pivots (6) at whose other ends rollers can be mounted. The steps (1) are made of plastics. The profiled struts are in the form of grids, which are connected to the step treads by dished profiles which extend across the width of the step.
