At the stage of the papermaking machine where the pulp, from the rock inlet, is passed into the gap between two fourdriniers, a shoe or bar is within the loop of the first fourdrinier to suppress the water removal in the direction towards th first fourdrinier. A further water removal unit, close to the first shoe or bar, is within the loop of the second fourdrinier, to extract water from both sides of the wet pulp web. The pulp from the stock inlet is pinched between the two fourdriniers. A suppressor shoe, within the loop of the first fourdrinier, is near the forming roller, to prevent water from the pulp dispersing through the first fourdrinier (1). A second unit, within the loop of the second fourdrinier, directs extracted water from the pulp to both sides, using a number of projecting plates in contact with the fourdrinier. The upper sides of the plates are flat or curved convex surfaces towards the other fourdrinier. The pulp is passed over a transfer box to move into the next stage of papermaking. Water extracted from the pulp is collected for disposal.
