Creation of maintenance data base - uses mobile terminal to record maintenance tasks for transfer to computer for automatic development of routine task data

To build up a database of routine maintenance for the machines in a spinning or similar plant, each completed maintenance task is entered into a mobile terminal for display and transfer to a computer. The maintenance database for all the equipment is then built up automatically, to forecast work and give work analysis and maintenance statistics. Information masks are stored for condition, status and events with primary instructions in a hierarchical structure. An input mask is for the insertion of codes or symbols and can be called up on a display. When at least one element of information is selected by a keystroke, for condition or status or event, the selected item is shown as maintenance information on an integrated circuit card. If there are no relevant information data from the masks, maintenance information is inserted as a code or symbols for the IC card display. ADVANTAGE - The technique automatically builds up a maintenance database, to show the routine work to be done at any time, using standardised or unified information units.
