High performance textile mat for civil engineering use - has longitudinal and cross strips locked against each other at crossover points

A high performance mat for civil engineering use is made of strips (2, 3) of high tensile textile fabric which are locked against each other at the cross over points (4), for instance by sewing, or by adhesives, welding or stapling. The joint can be made to be alternately interpenetrating and overlapping. Connecting rods (5) in steel or plastic can be interwoven into the mat structure. For use with concrete the surface can be flocked (7). USE/ADVANTAGE - Dimensionally stable mats can be produced independently of the spacing of individual strips.
