A non-nitrosamine-toxic rubber material (I) contains 100 phr diene rubber (or blend), 10-150 phr carbon black, 0-5 phr fatty acid and/or salt thereof (III)., 0-120 phr mineral oil and/or elastifying rubber plasticiser (IV), 2-20 phr ZnO, 0.5-10 phr vulcanising agent of formula (IIA) and/or (IIB) 0.3-5 phr 2-mercapto-benzothiazyl-sulphide (MBTS) and/or 2-mercaptobenzothiazol (MBT) and/or MBT salt or -0.5-5 phr N-tetra-butyl-2-benzothiazyl-sulphide and/or equiv. amts. of other sulphenamides, 0-6.5 phr sulphur or S-donor, 0-5 phr anti-ageing/anti-ozone additive (V) and up to 120 phr other rubber additives. In (IIA), total C atoms in R1-R4 = at least 9, with n = at least 2; in (IIB), total C atoms in R1 and R2 = at least 5, with n = at least 5, with n = at least 1, pref. at least 2, and M = metal atom. USE/ADVANTAGE - The invention provides non-nitrosamine-toxic rubber material (I) with better resistance to heat ageing than conventional non-nitrosamine-toxic materials, for use, e.g. in pipes and engine bearings etc., which are exposed to high temp.
