Triazinone derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new. R1 = 1-6C alkyl or 3-6C cycloalkyl; R2 and R3 = each H or 1-4C alkyl; R4 = 1-6C alkyl, 2-6C haloalkyl contg. 1-10 halogen atoms, 3-6C alkenyl, 3-6C alkynyl, 3-6C cyclo-alkyl or a gp. of formula (a) or (b) X and Y = each H, halogen, NO2 or CF3. 4 cpds. (I) are specifically claimed, including 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-3-oxo-4-(1'-methoxycarbonyl-1',2' -dihydropyridin -5'-yl)-methyleneamino)-6-methyl- 1,2,4-triazine (Ia). USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are pesticides, esp. insecticides and acaricides which are well tolerated by plants and warm blooded creatures. (I) have excellent systemic and contact action on insects which damage plants by sucking, esp. Aphididae (e.g. Aphis fabae, Aphis craccivora, myzus persicae and Bernisia tabaci), which are difficult to control with conventional agents. In tests, typical cpds. (I) were 80% effective against these insects when applied in concns. of 400 ppm.
