A method for producing an elastically flexible lens designed to correct an ametropic eye by contact with the front side of the Bowman's lamina of the cornea thereof, said contact involving the deformation of the lens in comparison with its state when unused. The topography of the front (3) of the cornea (4), and the refraction in the ametropic eye (1), are measured, and selected values are attributed to some of the mechanical, geometrical and optical features of a theoretical unused lens, while leaving unknown the value of another of said features which is determined by making a mathematical model of the ametropic eye (1), an emmetropic eye and the theoretical lens, and by simulating the contact between said theoretical lens and the front (3) or the Bowman's lamina, respectively, of the cornea (4) of the ametropic eye (1). Then, a real lens (2) is made or selected which when unused has the same selected values and the same value determined using the mathematical model concerning its mechanical, geometrical and optical features, and this real lens (2) is brought into contact with the front(3) or the Bowman's lamina, respectively, of the cornea (4) of the ametropic eye (1). Contact lenses (1) similar to epikeratophakia lenses can thereby be produced with sufficient accuracy to allow them to be held to the cornea by suction.
