The present invention relates to a new variety of ranunculus called MARTINE. This variety was obtained by artificial fertilisation of flowers of the female variety called FIEVRE (FR-A-2,538,217/8,221,968), with red flowers, with pollen from the male variety called "japonaise" "VICTORIA" with yellow flowers, from the male variety "VICTORIA", the new variety took the vegetative habit, giving rise to very tall and slender plants, highly productive of cut flowers; the plant is vigorous, erect, vertical, thin, very slender; its height is, from the base to the flower buds, from 80 to 100 cm from the soil to full development; the corolla is light and elegant, round, regular, with slightly festooned edges; the outer petals fall on the calyx, forming a flat section; the general colour of the corolla is red-orange (RHS 33A) shaded on the outer edges of the petals in orange colour (RHS 34A) and on the inner petals in orange (RHS 24 B); the petals are numerous, on average 90-120, of very round fan shape, longitudinally veined, concave upwards; the central petals do not cover the centre of the corolla; the claw is small, barely differentiated; the petals are very variable in size depending on their position in the corolla: the outer petals have a length of 18 - 20 mm, a width of 28 - 35 mm; their texture is thin, resistant; their surface is silky on both faces; their upper face is red-orange (RHS 33 A) shaded orange (RHS 24 B) and the base of the petals towards the peduncle is yellow (RHS 8 B); their inner face is red-orange (RHS 33 A) shaded orange (RHS 170 C); the claw is light yellow (RHS 1 C). Ranunculus suitable for industrial production.
