The subject of the invention is a process for detecting or dosing molecular oxygen by means of RPE spectrometry using radical lithium phthalocyanines and a composition that can be used for the "in vivo" assay. BR/ This process consists in BR/ - contacting with said medium a radical lithium phthalocyanine having the formula: BR/ (CF DRAWING IN BOPI) BR/ BR/ in which R2 , R3, R6, R7, R10, R11, R14 and R15 represent a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom or a C1-C3 alkyl or alkoxy radical, and R1, R4, R5, R8, R9 , R 1 2, R 1 3 and R 16 represent a hydrogen or deuterium atom, provided that R 1 to R 16 do not all represent a hydrogen atom, and BR/ - examine the RPE signal of the phthalocyanine of radical lithium in contact with said medium. / P
