Self-adhesive oral and facial mask for avoiding radioactive contamination of the environment during the inhalation of substances in clinical radioisotopy

Device for avoiding contamination of the environment by radioactive substances inhaled in clinical radioisotopy. The invention relates to a mask permitting the inhalation of radioactive substances without contaminating the room where these examinations are taking place. It consists of a main body (4) whose inner surface is self-adhesive, a ring made of a material which acts as a filter (5) placed on the inner surface of the mask and on the region of the projection of the lips of the patient. The central region of the mask (6) is made of a material which is not self-adhesive and in which there is a slot (7) with protected ends (8). The body of the mask has lower interruptions (9), a curvature (11) and two upper poles which contribute to the adhesion and the anatomical adaptation. The adhesion of the mask to the anatomical regions of the mouth, chin and cheeks can prevent the escapes which contaminate the surrounding room with radioactivity. The filter is capable of retaining the particles currently used in this type of examination, and the mask can serve as a physical barrier in the cases of examinations using radioactive gases. The mask must be placed via its central slot around the tube of the mouthpiece used in the two situations mentioned. The device according to the invention is intended in particular for use in clinical radioisotopy. IMAGE
