P Method for determining the quantity of water necessary for a culture substrate to maintain the ideal hygrometry of cultures which uses the energy produced by the increase in weight of a water retentor placed in a rotating hollow wheel freely on an axis and balanced by counterweights. The desiccation of the water retentive causes the wheel to rotate and allows the humidity to be monitored. The environment which determines the rate of evaporation being identical for the substrate and the retentor this similarity is constant. A suitable container allows the device to be very precise. /P
