A method for determining human prolyl hydroxylase by radioimmunoassay according to the sandwich method wherein a monoclonal antibody to human prolyl hydroxylase and polyclonal antibody to human prolyl hydroxylase are used, characterized in that a monoclonal antibody to human prolyl hydroxylase is used as at least one of the antibodies which are to be coated on a solid support and to be labeled with a radioactive element. This method is simple and operable with small amounts of samples and gives exact results. Thus, this method is useful for the diagnosis of hepatic diseases. A monoclonal antibody specific to the &bgr;-subunit of human prolyl hydroxylase is used to test for the human prolyl hydroxylase.
