PRODUCTION OF SMECTITE WITH DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF EXCHANGED CATION

摘要

PURPOSE:To simply produce smectite having a desired amt. of exchanged cation by bringing smectite into ion exchange with cation and carrying out heating. CONSTITUTION:Smectite composed of montmorillonite and/or hectorite is suspended in water, one or more kinds of cations having =1.4Angstrom ionic radius and high ion exchange power are added to the resulting suspension and an ion exchange reaction is carried out until a desired amt. of exchanged cations is attained. The suspension is then heated to 200-700 deg.C to obtain the title smectite.
