PRODUCTION OF SILICA GEL FIBER AND SILICA GLASS FIBER

摘要

PURPOSE:To protract the period possible for spinning and to produce colorless and transparent silica gel fiber, by spinning the viscous liq. obtd. by adding water to silicic acid ester added with a specified alkylsililation reagent, hydrolyzing and polymerizing. CONSTITUTION:The viscous liq. is obtd. by adding 0.5-4mol. times the alkylsililation regent of formula II or III (where, n is 1-8, m is 2 or 3 and X is Cl, Br, or OCOCH3) and 0.5-4mol. times water to the silicic acid ester of formula I (where, n is 1-8), by hydrolyzing and by polymerizing. Then, the silica gel fiber obtd. by spinning the viscous liq. is heated at =500 deg.C in an oxidative atmosphere to obtain the silica glass fiber by eliminating the -(CnH2n+1)m part by burning.
