PURPOSE:To obtain an image which allows easy recognition of the nerve root and other tissue of a person to be examined and allows good recognition of the traveling condition thereof by thickly stimulating a slice with respect to the proton of a section to draw the nerve root, collecting signals by the sequence to suppress the signals from fats and imaging the signals. CONSTITUTION:The lumbar region PW of the person P to be examined is placed in the magnetic field center of a magnet assembly MA and a surface coil 3B is disposed right under the lumbar region PW. The coil 3B is driven by a signal transmitter 5 or signal receiver 6 like a flush type probe 3A for the whole body so that the signals can be received or transmitted. The signal transmitter 5 is driven to apply the RF pulses of the rotating magnetic field from the transmission coil of the probe 3A and a gradient magnetic field power source 4 is driven to apply the gradient magnetic fields Gx, Gy, Gz as the magnetic fields for slicing, phase encoding and reading from a gradient magnetic field generating oil 2, then the signal from the specific section is collected by the coil 3B, as the pulse sequence for collection of data. This sequence is repeatedly executed a number of times to obtain data group. The image is formed by this data group.
