PHARMACEUTICAL PREPARATION OF CORTICOSTEROIDS FOR EXTERNAL USE

PURPOSE:A pharmaceutical preparation of a corticosteroid for external use, having increased release ability of the corticosteroid, and extremely improved endermic absorption, obtained by making the corticosteroid useful as an antiphlogistic for external use into an amorphous state, dispersing it into a base. CONSTITUTION:A pharmaceutical preparation for external use consisting of (A) amorphous corticosteroid, preferably amorphous hydrocortisone acetate, betamethasone valerate, or betamethasone dipropionate, and (B) a base, preferably oil- or fat-soluble base such as white vaseline, liquid paraffin. The corticosteroid, for example, can be made amorphous by (i) mixed crushing with crystalline cellulose or a cyclodextrin, (ii) coprecipitation with polyvinyl pyrrolidone, (iii) adsortion on a porous carrier such as magnesium aluminate metasilicate, etc.
