SUBMERGED ARC WELDING WIRE FOR LOW-TEMPERATURE HIGH-TOUGHNESS STEEL

PURPOSE:To improve the toughness at a low temp. of the titled wire when the wire is applied to a low-temp. high-toughness steel by limiting the compsn. of the steel to be applied with said wire, incorporating a specific Ti oxide, etc. therein and controlling the content of Al or Ti in the wire. CONSTITUTION:The above-mentioned steel contains, by weight %, =0.01% in total of =1 kinds among REM, Ca, Mg, Zr, and Al and contains =1 kinds of Ti oxides or the complex of the Ti oxides and TiN having 0.1-3.0mu particle size and 5X103-1X107 pieces/mm3 number of particles. The wire for submerged arc welding of the above-mentioned steel contains 0.01-0.5% Al or Ti alone or in total thereof, contains C, Si, Mn, P, S, etc. as the other components and consists of the balance Fe. The high toughness is provided to the molten metal at a low temp. of about =-40 deg.C by such constitution.
