PURPOSE:To smooth the surface of a high-temp. superconducting thick film, to increase the compactness and to obtain good superconductivity by applying a soln. of the calcined powder in a binder on an insulating layer thermally sprayed on a metallic substrate and sintering the powder after cold isostatic pressing. CONSTITUTION:A soln. of the calcined powder of a superconducting material in a binder is applied on a thin insulating layer thermally sprayed on a metallic substrate and difficult to peel. The powder is dried, subjected to cold isostatic pressing to increase the density of the powder and then sintered to form a high-temp. superconducting thick film. The cooling rate is decreased in sintering, hence metallic temp.-resistance performance and good zero-resistance transition temp. are provided, the density of the superconducting film is increased, and the current density is enhanced. Besides, the surface of the superconducting thick film subjected to cold isostatic pressing is smoothed, hence the film is hardly contaminated or damaged, and the performance is hardly changed.
