PURPOSE:To continuously detect the residual chlorine in sea water and convert this residual chlorine to an electric signal to automatically control a chlorine injection rate by providing a sampling pump, centrifugal sepn. type separator, detector, back washing line for washing the detecting section, and a residual chlorine analyzer. CONSTITUTION:The sample taken in from a sea water line 1 is boosted by a pump 3 and is removed of mud or foreign matter in the centrifugal sepn. type separator 9. The removed matter is removed by a blow line 10. The sampling sea water which does not contain the mud or foreign matter is subjected to detection of the residual chlorine by the residual chlorine detector 4. A dam 12 which disturbs the sampling sea water to turbulence so as to prevent the mud or foreign matter from sticking to the partition part 5 of the detector is provided. Further, the mud or foreign matter sticking to the partition wall 5 upon long-term use is removed by the back washing water from the washing water line 11 for back washing. The exchange of the filter, detector diaphragm, etc., is eliminated by this invention. The economical and efficient detector is thus obtd.
