NEW MATERIAL:The benzimidazolin-2-one derivative of formula I [R1 is H, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R2 is lower alkyl or aralkyl; Y is (branched) 2-4C alkylene chain; Z is secondary amino] and its acid addition salt. EXAMPLE:1-Benzyloxy-3-(2-diisopropylaminoethyl)benzimidazolin-2-one. USE:A remedy for ulcer having mild central activity and effective in remedying gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, etc., caused by stress, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II (most of which are known compounds) with an amine derivative of formula X-Y-Z (X is halogen or acid residue) or its acid addition salt in an inert solvent in the presence of a base.
