PURPOSE: To reduce the number of measurement of the position of a deck ship on water, and also determine the accurate position of the ship. ;CONSTITUTION: A gantry 16 is provided on a deck ship main body 12 movably in the longitudinal direction of the ship P. Also a hollow cylindrical member 20 is positioned on water at the sides of the main body gunwales 12a and 12b, and fixed to the gantry 16. Then a spud 20 is moved up and down in the hollow section of the cylindrical member 20. With the gantry 16 fixed to the spud 20 penetrated and fixed to an underwater ground, the main body 12 is moved in the longitudinal direction of the ship P. The amount of movement of the main body on water is equivalent to the relative moved distance of the main body 12 to the gantry 16. Accordingly, after the position of the main body 12 on water is confirmed by measurement, the position of the main body 12 on water can be known by the measured position on water and a relative moved distance of the main body 12 to the gantry 16.
