PURPOSE: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material high in sensitivity and covering power and improved in residual dye stains. ;CONSTITUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material contains a silver halide emulsion composed of flat silver halide grains having the aspect ratio of ≥2 in the amount of ≥50% of the projection area of the total silver halide grains, and the emulsion is obtained by mixing the aqueous solution of a silver salt with the aqueous solution of a bromide at the same time to grow silver halide grains each in the amount of ≤10 volume % of silver halide grains before the end of forming the silver halide grains, and sensitizing dye is added at an optical time of either during or after forming the grains and a sensitizing dye is added at an optical time of chemical sensitization and its ratio is 1.5:1, and the total amount of the sensitizing dye to be added is ≥400mg of per 1mol of the silver halide.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
