PURPOSE: To reduce relatively large size and to suppress the cost by adding a perturbation to a dual-mode resonator at one point on an axis of symmetry formed by the bisectors of eigenvectors. ;CONSTITUTION: The resonator 1 is substantially in a square shape which has side lengths l3 and l4 equal to the lengths of half wavelength of an orthogonal resonance signals shown by the eigenvectors 13 and 15, respectively. The vectors 13 and 15 are bisected by the axis 6 of symmetry. A coupling notch 3 couples the axis 6 of symmetry with an orthogonal matching signal by reflecting respective resonance signals shown by the vectors 13 and 15 symmetrically so that the notch 3 is bisected by the axis 6. The purpose of the notch 3 is to cause a perturbation by distorting the resonance signals, so the position of the notch 3 which distorts the signals acts to couple the orthogonal signals. The eigenvectors 13 and 15 can be oriented in arbitrary directions so that they are parallel to the edges of the resonator 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
