The magnetic fluid shaft seal device 9 is provided with magnetic members 12 provided opposite to the rotary shaft 8, magnetic fluids 13 provided between the magnetic members 12 and the rotary shaft 8, and magnets 11 to form the lines of magnetic flux passing through the magnetic members 12, the magnetic fluids 13, and the rotary shaft 8.
