PURPOSE: To locate the failed point by using the smallest one of the distances from terminals of a three-terminal, parallel-two-circuit power transmission line to the divergent point as the distance from the terminal to the failed point. ;CONSTITUTION: On the A-terminal side of a device, the input part 4 converts the sensed current of each phase into a current signal of a certain level. An A/D converter 5 converts this current signal into digital data at certain sampling intervals and accommodates it in a data memory 6. A CPU 7 performs specified calculation on the basis of the current data of 1L, 2L circuits stored in the memory 6 and senses failure occurrence in the parallel two circuits. Further computation is executed on the basis of the current data sensed on the A- terminal side and the current data transmitted from the B-terminal and C- terminal sides to determine the distances from the terminals to the failed point. Thereupon a display gives information on the distance from any terminal to the failed point calculated by the CPU 7 and a data transfer part 8 which performs current data conversion between the B-terminal and C-terminal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
