PURPOSE: To reduce retrial processing at the occurrence of a command overrun. ;CONSTITUTION: A magnetic disk device 5 has a magnetic disk 8 which has two data read heads 8a and 8b in parallel and a head switching circuit 6 which switches the two heads 8a and 8b, the magnetic disk device 5 or a magnetic disk controller 1 has a command overrun detecting circuit 7 which detects the command overrun, and the magnetic disk controller 1 has a processor 2 which recognizes the detection result of the command overrun detecting circuit 7 and sends an indication to the head switching circuit 6.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
