8-HYDROXY-2H-DIBENZ(B,F)AZEPIN-2-ONE BASED DYE

PURPOSE: To prepare new 8-hydroxy-2H-dibenz[b,f]azepin-2-one based dyes useful as acid/base indicators and acting as the chromogenic matrix of hydrolase. ;CONSTITUTION: A compd. of formula I (X is CH₂CH₂ or CH=CH; Y is H or a group cuttable by enzyme) such as 8-hydroxy-10,11-dihydro-2H-dibenz[b, f]azepin-2-one. A compd. of formula II is salmon in an acid and dark red in a base, and its pKa value is 6.34, and moreover, a compd. of formula III is yellow in an acid and blue in a base, and its pKa value is 6.95. As the base to be cut by enzyme, sugar or the residue of its derivative, an acyl group, an amino acid residue, a peptide residue, the residue of inorganic acid or the like are exemplified, and it is selected so as to impart specificity to a corresponding specified enzyme.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
