METHOD FOR ASSIGNING PICTURE ELEMENT TO HALF-TONE LATTICE

PURPOSE: To correct problems such as unbalanced cell size by configuring all digital half-tone cells with super-tile pixels so as to make the digital half-tone cells close to ideal relating half-tone cells. CONSTITUTION: At first, a half-tone grating 220 consisting of a plurality of half-tone cells is overlapped with a super tile 140. Pixels of a 1st group of the super tile 140 each of which is completely set are assigned to digital cells. Then pixels of a 2nd group which of them are contained partially in the cells 120 and other of which are contained at least in another cell 120 are assigned to digital cells. The assignment above is conducted in a way that the area of the digital cells including the pixels of the 1st group and the 2nd group to be assigned is not decreased nor increased to/from the area of the cells 120 by a prescribed amount or over. Thus, problems such as unbalanced cell size are corrected.
