PURPOSE: To improve the oxidation resistance of a cutting tool made of (Ti, M) CNBO-base cermet and to provide it for cutting causing the generation of intense heat in particular. ;CONSTITUTION: The cutting tool is constituted of a (Ti, M) CNBO-base cermet having a composition which consists of, by weight, 70-95% hard dispersed phase composed essentially of TiCNBO containing 0.2-4% B and 0.2-2% O in the form of solid solutions or (Ti, M) CNBO (where M means one or more elements among Ta, Nb, W, and Mo or one or more elements among Ta, Nb, W, and Mo and one or more elements among Zr, Hf, V, and Cr) and the balance binding phase composed essentially of Co and/or Ni.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
