摘要

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need of a polarizing plate by using high polymer distribution type liquid crystal, to realize brightness which is two or more times as high as that of TN liquid crystal, to almost eliminate the effect of hysteresis and to realize excellent multi-level display. ;CONSTITUTION: A modulating voltage 61 is impressed on the picture element electrode of an active matrix type liquid crystal panel through a counter electrode or a common electrode. The cycle of the voltage 61 is set to be shorter than one field and the amplitude thereof impressed on the picture element electrode is set to be equal to or under the threshold voltage of the liquid crystal. The liquid crystal of the liquid crystal panel is the high polymer distribution type liquid crystal. The high polymer distribution type liquid crystal has a hysteresis characteristic. By the impressing of the voltage 61, transmissivity T1 at the last transition time of the hysteresis and transmissivity T2 at the first transition time are changed in one field and the apparent transmissivity becomes (T1+T2)/2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
